Location Remote field role servicing customers in US. *The candidate must live near an international airport preferably Salt Lake City, Denver or Las Vegas.

Summary The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is a key technical resource responsible for delivering exceptional service for the Particle Metrix ZetaView nanoparticle analytic platform. This role focuses on the long-term maintenance, repair, and performance operation of instruments across our US customer base. You will ensure customers experience reliable scientific performance by providing expert technical service and outstanding customer support.

This is a remote field-based role with significant travel covering our US customer base focusing on West Coast and central states, while supporting other regions with potential international coverage based on business needs. Field Service Engineers report directly to the Head of Support and Applications.

Essential Functions The Service Engineer installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and verifies the performance of ZetaView nanoparticle analytical equipment.

  • Travel to customer sites to perform service on Particle Metrix instruments, including, preventive maintenance, calibration, installation, training and repairs.
  • Conduct remote evaluations to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and so ware-related issues.
  • Document all service activities and findings clearly and accurately in applicable systems.
  • Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting remotely when possible, escalating appropriately when needed.
  • Independently schedule and manage, maintenance, repairs, and follow-up service activities.
  • Maintain high service quality and professionalism while representing Particle Metrix in the field.
  • Travel up to 75% or more to meet business needs.

Skills And Experience

  • 12 months experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of scientific or medical equipment preferred
  • Solid biological science background with mechanical and hardware troubleshooting skills specific to laboratory instruments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle 

Education And Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, or a related major required; or 2-year degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
  • Demonstrated customer-first mindset with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple field assignments.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Fast-paced environment with a high volume of service requests and dynamic scheduling.
  • 75%+ overnight travel required, with additional travel possible to meet business demands.
  • Some physical effort is required, including lifting and installing instruments and associated components up to 30 lbs.
  • The candidate must live near an international airport preferably Salt Lake City, Denver or Las Vegas.
  • Frequently required to operate tools/machinery that use hand and/or foot controls.

Compensation Range The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $65,000 and $85,000 per year; base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including medical benefits, paid me off benefits (vacation, Holiday, and sick time), yearly bonus. Following employment, growth beyond the hiring range is possible based on performance.
